ODA LEGO Foundation SCI CDA Project!
We are thrilled to share the incredible impact of the Childhood Development Activity (CDA) implemented by the Oromia Development Association (ODA) in partnership with Save the Children International, generously funded by the LEGO Foundation. This transformative initiative is making waves in the East Bale and West Guji zones of the Oromia region, reaching 11 woredas and touching the lives of thousands of children, mothers, and communities.
Where We Work:
The CDA program is actively implemented in 11 woredas: Ginnir, Gololcha, Sawena, Laga Hidha, Dawe Kachan, Dawe Sarar, Abayya, Galana, Suro Barguda, Dugda Dawa, and Malka Soda.
What We’ve Achieved:
118 schools and 208 pre-primary (Bu’ura Boru) sites supported.
10,567 children aged 5-6 and 6,240 children aged 3-4 reached with quality early childhood education.
6,240 mothers empowered through targeted interventions.
1,073 community discussion groups established to foster community engagement and ownership.
Supporting Education:
Distributed scholastic materials and site equipment to all schools and pre-primary sites.
Provided school feeding programs, with 89.9% of children receiving High-Energy Biscuits (HEB) and 10.1% enjoying hot meals.
Employed 208 dedicated facilitators to ensure quality education and care at all Bu’ura Boru sites.
Community Engagement:
The success of this program is rooted in the active involvement of communities. From mothers to local leaders, everyone is playing a role in creating a brighter future for their children. The 1,073 community discussion groups have become platforms for dialogue, learning, and collective action, ensuring sustainability and long-term impact.
