Oromia Development Association (ODA) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization based in Ethiopia. Established with the goal of promoting the social, economic, and cultural development of the Oromo people, ODA works primarily in the Oromia region, Ethiopia’s largest regional state. The association focuses on addressing key challenges such as poverty, lack of access to education, poor healthcare, and insufficient infrastructure, all while promoting human rights and social justice.
These kinds of schools aim to go beyond traditional educational methods by catering to the unique needs of each student. The goal is to help children not only succeed academically but also develop important life skills, self-confidence, and social integration. The ODA Boarding School likely focuses on creating a safe, nurturing space that allows children to learn and grow at their own pace, with the help of specially trained staff, therapists, and other specialists.
The boarding school model also makes it possible for children from remote or underserved regions, where services might be even more limited, to get consistent education and support without the challenge of long daily commutes.
The vision of the Oromia Development Association (ODA) is to create a self-reliant, prosperous, and socially just Oromia where the Oromo people can thrive in a sustainable environment. The association envisions an Oromia where individuals and communities have access to essential services such as education, healthcare, and economic opportunities, all while preserving and promoting the rich cultural heritage of the Oromo people.
The mission of the Oromia Development Association (ODA) is centered on the sustainable development and empowerment of the Oromo people in Ethiopia. ODA works with communities to address pressing challenges, including poverty, lack of access to education, poor healthcare, and insufficient infrastructure, while promoting social justice, human rights, and cultural preservation.
